Jotbunker is Coming Soon
I mentioned in my last post that I have begun to release open source and commercial software. Open source software gets released under the homesteadhacker github. Commercial software gets released by the business I founded, GameFi LLC.
My first commercial project was WhiteboardQ, which is a custom release from GameFi for IT channel partner dental clients.
I have been developing two software products, and using them daily. I made these two tools because I needed them. I also think they fill a niche, and others might find them useful:
Jotbunker. I take a lot of notes and am proud of the way I organize all of my information (data). Jotbunker is the note taking system I’ve tried piecing together over the years with off the shelf tools. I’ve finally made my magnum opus and I use it extensively every day.

End user documentation and marketing copy for Jotbunker has just begun. so bear with me on the rough introduction: It’s a note taking system for privacy minded, cloud averse individuals who have one primary computer, one phone, and no other devices in their workflow. Quick data gathering on the phone, Mindful curation on the computer. Two-way sync using direct IP. Encryption at rest and and on the wire. Iphone/Windows. Soon: Android. In Apple appstore (TestFlight) now, friends & family testing starts soon. Free phone app that’s useful on it’s own. And a modestly priced app for your computer which will unleash the full featured wifi sync and “curate at the computer” system.
Backupbunker (name TBD). This is the backup system I’ve always wanted for hands on interactive backups. It is a completely free, open source github project. Privacy and ownership minded users require an excellent backup system since they are responsible for their own data! I have been using this tool, built into a graphical backup/restore tool from the scripts I’ve used over the years. it’s PySide6 (Qt) desktop GUI for encrypted Rclone sync to Backblaze B2. You point it at an existing rclone crypt remote. Live backup status with color-coded output, progress tracking, and per-sync log files. It also mounts your backup as a drive letter for restores, either latest or point-in-time using B2 versioning.
More info and links coming soon for both Jotbunker and the open source backup system!
